why onboarding

onboarding session is just a chit chat session, a good chance for anyone to come and take a look at the place and to know more about the class. at the same time it is a good time for me to understand what one wants to learn.
aim

my aim is to make woodworking sustainable. so what's the hurdles? space, not everyone have space at home to do woodworking. while even going lean i cannot make one able to make a huge cabinet at home but at least small items like a jewelry box is definitely possible.

tools

you can choose to learn how to sharpen a blade, it can be a kitchen knife, a chisels, a planer blade or even a saw blade. alternatively you can try to make a tool, can make a square, a planer, a saw guide etc. there is so much possibilities but first you need to know how the tool work

customized classes

i do not know what you want to do and even many may not know what they want to learn. coming for an onboarding allows you to check me out and i need to check you out too. it may not always be about making things, some may wants to come and learn how to restore a vintage item.

making

making things from raw materials can be either making it by adding them together making it bigger or taking material off it and make it lighter. joining can be done using fastener or making joints and reducing can be done with cutting, scraping or even carving.

methodologies

all roads lead to rome. there is more than one way to break a wood into two, there is more than one way to put two woods together too. it is all about what works best for you. i can share with you most ways, you just needs to decide which way works best for you.

fine handcraft

not everyone wants to be aggressive, some may just want to make things nice. you can do artsy craft using different methods resulting in amazing finishing. as one woodworker told me before, before finishing, the job is only like 30% done.
